As a new seller, learning all of the ins and outs of selling on Amazon, including repricing can seem challenging and overwhelming. With the start of a new year, we find now is the best time to give out some helpful tips so you can avoid the common mistakes most new Amazon sellers make. Even if you have experience selling on Amazon, it doesn’t hurt to refresh yourself on some valuable tips and tricks to help ensure your store in up to par with your competitors.
1. Keep Shipping Costs Low
Ideally, you’d want to offer free shipping to all customers, but this isn’t always possible. However, if you are charging outrageous shipping costs to buyers, it could negatively impact your reviews, which will hurt your chances to win the Buy Box.
2. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Sales
Amazon wants sellers to include quality photos with each listing. This means they are of high resolution, well lit with the entire product in focus with clean and simple backgrounds. Keep in mind that you can’t use promotional phrases like “free shipping” in the image or you’ll be in violation of Amazon’s policy.
3. Don’t Price Too High
You might want to avoid the race to the bottom of prices, however, if you price your items too high, you won’t be able to attract as many customers. Keep your prices within the same range of your competitors, and you should be able to attract a fair amount of traffic.
4. Avoid Repricers Charging Commission
You shouldn’t have to give up a percentage of your sales to your repricing platform. Unfortunately, there are a few out there that will charge a commission for using their technology. Avoid these like the plague, and go for one that won’t take away from your hard work.
5. Stay Safe
We recommend that Amazon sellers all use a separate bank account for Amazon payments. Keep in mind that Amazon won’t ever ask you for your password or financial details so never disclose this information over email or phone.
